An Anglophile, appreciator of outdated technologies and the world’s most cheerful curmudgeon, Hayley was named for Halley’s comet, which was passing overhead on the day she was born. Her parents took the spelling of her name from Hayley Mills.
Despite working as a blogger for The Washington Post’s technology section, Hayley is a terrible personal blogger — very forgetful — but has vowed to be better about it, as the blog is being heralded as the future of her profession. She extends her thanks to all who are along for the ride as she tries to find her blogging voice.
Hayley lives and works in Washington, D.C., in the Columbia Heights neighborhood. She recently graduated with a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. Born and raised in Bloomington, Minn., Hayley is a Minnesota girl at heart and has served two interning stints at the Star Tribune before landing at the Post. She’s also been a public life and education reporter for the Columbia Missourian and cut her journalistic teeth as a high-school intern at the Southwest Journal/Skyway News. She graduated in 2008 from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and also holds a bachelor’s degree in History and Japanese with a minor in English.
When she isn’t committing journalism, you can probably find her scouring the internet for any information about her beloved Minnesota Twins.
